At the door
About Fcckeokuk
Fcckeokuk is an everyday-lifestyle magazine for people whose weeks are full of small plans: a birthday to organise, a leaking tap to sort out, a weekend away to pack for, a new gadget that refuses to talk to the television. We write about the ordinary things that fill a household calendar, and we try to make each of them a little easier and a little more fun.
What we write about
Our archive has grown over several years and covers a broad spread of subjects. They fall into a few rough groups:
- Home — renovations, lighting, plumbing upgrades and the practical side of running a household, plus projects like making a photo album people will actually open.
- Events — invitations, parties, reunions and celebrations, from planning a surprise party to the details of a wedding photo booth.
- Tech — television over the internet, smart homes, home servers and the gadgets that end up on the sideboard.
- Foods — what to cook, pour and share, including cold brew coffee made at home.
- Travel — trips with family and friends, packing advice and notes on getting there.
- Sports and Lifestyle — fan culture, kit, hobbies, collecting and the many small interests that make a life feel like your own.
The areas we cover page lays out every section in more detail.
Who writes it
A handful of writers put the magazine together under pen names. We are not certified experts in anything we cover, and we will not pretend otherwise. We are people who host, cook, travel and fiddle with technology at home, and who enjoy explaining what we learn along the way. When a subject calls for a professional, such as wiring, structural work, health questions or legal matters, we say so plainly.
How we keep it useful
Every new article starts with a question someone actually asked, whether that is a reader, a friend or one of us. We read official guidance where it exists, compare several sources and test what we can safely try ourselves. We avoid inventing numbers, we treat any business we name as a lead rather than a guarantee, and we keep advice general enough to be safe while still being practical. Our page on how we pick recommendations explains the process step by step.
Older articles in the archive were written by different contributors over the years. We are gradually reworking them so that the tone, accuracy and usefulness match our newer guides. If something reads oddly or looks out of date, the corrections page is the quickest way to flag it.
Things we keep off these pages
- Advertising banners or pop-ups.
- Analytics scripts or tracking of your reading.
- Promises that a named provider is the right one for you.
- Personal financial, medical or legal advice.
Say hello
We like hearing what readers are planning, and plenty of our guides began with a single message. If you have a question, an idea for a topic or a story about a party that went gloriously wrong, visit the contact page. A short note is always welcome.

Our house rules
A few promises we keep on every page
Short reminders that sit at the top of our shared notebook and shape everything we publish.
Write for the person standing in the kitchen with the problem, not for other writers.
If we have not tried it and cannot check it, the article says so.
A good guide should still work on a tight budget.
Safety notes go in the main text, never in the small print.
No invented numbers, no borrowed credentials, no promises about named brands.
Around the table
The pen names behind the magazine
Four regular writers share the work. Each looks after a few sections and reads the others' drafts.
Euphemia
Home and get-togethers
Has hosted more birthday dinners than she can remember and keeps the planning lists up to date.
Benedek
Tech around the house
Sets up the media boxes, routers and game servers for half the street and writes up what he learns.
Jessamy
Food and travel
Tests recipes and packing lists at home first, then takes them on the road to see what survives.
Hollis
Sport, hobbies and the archive
Follows the football, checks the kit guides for safety notes and reworks older articles one by one.
