Cookies and Local Storage

Most websites set a long list of cookies the moment you arrive. Fcckeokuk does not. This page explains the single item the site does store in your browser, why it is there and how you can get rid of it whenever you like.

Cookies and local storage in brief

A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to keep, which is then sent back with later requests. Local storage is similar, but the information stays inside your browser and is never sent along automatically. Both can be used for harmless conveniences or for tracking. We use only the convenience part, and only once.

The one thing we store

WhatWhereWhyHow long
Your answer to the bannerLocal storage in your browserSo the banner does not reappear on every pageUntil you clear this site's data

That stored value says only which button you pressed. It contains nothing about who you are, what you read or where you came from, and it is not sent to us.

What we do not use

  • No analytics or statistics cookies.
  • No advertising or remarketing cookies.
  • No social media cookies or share-button trackers.
  • No cookies from embedded videos, maps or comment systems.

Whichever button you choose on the banner, the website works the same way. Declining does not hide content or change what you see.

Removing the stored answer

Every modern browser lets you delete data for a single website. Look in your browser's settings under privacy, site data or website storage, find this address and remove it. On your next visit the banner simply reappears and asks once more. Using a private or incognito window has a similar effect, because the stored answer disappears when the window is closed.

Hosting and server logs

Separately from your browser, the hosting company that delivers our pages keeps short technical logs of requests, as every web host does. These are not cookies and are not used to follow readers. The privacy policy describes them in more detail.

If anything changes

Should we ever add a feature that needs further storage, this page will list it before it goes live, and the banner will tell you about it. Questions are welcome through the contact page, and the general conditions of use are in our website terms.
