At the door
Tell Us About Mistakes
We work hard to get things right, but a small team writing about many subjects will sometimes slip. A detail goes out of date, a step is described in the wrong order or a link stops working. When that happens, we would much rather hear about it than leave it in place. This page explains how to tell us and what happens next.
What counts as a mistake
- A fact that is wrong or has changed since the article was written.
- Instructions that are unclear, missing a step or could lead to harm.
- A safety note that should be stronger or more prominent.
- A broken link or a page that no longer loads correctly.
- Typos and grammar slips, which we are happy to fix too.
How to report it
Send an email to office@fcckeokuk.net or use the form on the contact page. To help us act quickly, please include:
- Which article it is, by title or web address.
- The sentence or section you are concerned about.
- What you believe is wrong and, if you know, what is correct.
- Where the correct information comes from, such as an official source or manufacturer.
Being unsure is fine; "this looks odd to me" is a perfectly good start.
What happens after you write
Every report is read by one of the writers. Anything that could affect someone's safety is looked at first. We check the point against reliable sources and, where possible, try it ourselves. If the article needs changing, we update it. If we decide the original was correct, we reply to explain why.
How changes are shown
Small fixes such as typos and broken links are corrected without a note. Where a correction changes the meaning of advice, we update the article's modified date and, for significant changes, add a brief line explaining what was corrected. We do not quietly rewrite advice that people may already have followed.
Older articles
Parts of our archive were written by earlier contributors and are gradually being revised. If you spot something in one of those older pieces, the same process applies. Our page on recommendations explains the standards we use when we rework them, and notes from the workshop describes how drafts are checked before they go up.
Thank you
Readers who take a moment to point out a problem make the magazine better for everyone who comes after them. We are grateful for every message, including the ones that tell us we got it wrong.
