Privacy Policy

This policy describes what happens to personal information when you read Fcckeokuk. The short version is that very little happens at all. The magazine is a collection of pre-built pages with no reader accounts, no comment system and nothing that follows you around. The longer version follows below.

The people responsible

Fcckeokuk is run by the small editorial team that writes it. Questions or requests about your data can be sent to office@fcckeokuk.net.

What this website does not do

• It runs no analytics, audience measurement or heatmap software.
• It carries no advertising and loads no ad networks.
• It embeds no tracking pixels, social plugins or third-party comment boxes.
• It builds no reader profiles and shares no information with marketers.

Data that is processed

Server logs kept by our hosting company

The pages are delivered to your browser by a hosting provider. As part of that delivery, its systems note technical details of each request: the IP address it came from, the time, the page asked for, the browser type and whether the request succeeded. This is standard for any website and helps the provider protect the service against abuse and fix faults. The logs are held for a short period by the provider, are not used by us to recognise individual readers and are not merged with other information.

The cookie-banner answer

The first time you visit, a small banner asks for your choice. Whatever you click is stored in your browser's local storage, on your own device, so the question is not repeated on every page. That stored answer is never transmitted to us. Clearing the site data for this address in your browser deletes it. More detail is on the cookies and local storage page.

Messages you send us

When you email us, or use the form on our contact page, which only opens your own email app with a message ready to send, we receive your address, any name you sign with and whatever you write. We use that to read and reply, nothing more. Messages are deleted when the conversation is finished and the information is no longer needed.

Legal basis

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, hosting logs are processed on the basis of a legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and available. Correspondence is processed on the basis of a legitimate interest in answering readers who write to us.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask whether we hold personal data about you and request a copy. You may ask us to correct it, erase it or limit how it is used, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. If you are unhappy with how we respond, you can complain to the data protection regulator where you live or work. Send any request to the address above and we will reply as quickly as we reasonably can.

Some older articles link to other websites. Once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy terms apply, and we have no control over what it collects.

Changes

If the way this website works changes, for example if a new feature handles personal data, this policy will be updated before the change goes live. Our website terms cover the general conditions of use.
